Moving Ideas from the Lab to the Marketplace - the Role of Tech Transfer in an Innovative Economy
May 18, 2006
Event Files

Senator John Ensign and Senator Blanche Lincoln hosted a discussion on the role of technology transfer from the lab to the marketplace on May 18, 2006.

There has been a tremendous amount of discussion over the past couple of years regarding the importance of innovation to U.S. competitiveness. Several reports, congressional proposals and Administration initiatives all point to the need to invest in new knowledge creation, develop a skilled workforce and provide the infrastructure necessary to support innovation. Central to these ideas is the ability to successfully transfer the knowledge from the university, government or private sector lab to the marketplace where value and jobs are created. There are several mechanisms in place to make this happen - some more successful than others. The Forum on May 18th brought together a panel of experts to discuss what works, what does not and why it matters to U.S. competitiveness.
